Prime Athletic Training & Fitness Is Not Just For Athletes

By Pamela Sosnowski

At Prime Athletic Training & Fitness Institute, trainers want their members to never be bored with a workout. That's why the brand new 5,000 square-foot facility is fully equipped with the latest equipment including a 25-yard indoor artificial turf that challenges members to try new exercises to get their body in the best shape possible.

The gym also wants members to meet new people and have fun while working out. "Here at Prime Athletic Training & Fitness Institute we pride ourselves on upholding ourselves to the following: faith, family, and fitness and with these qualities we will maintain a relentless effort to mold you into a better you," says owner Desmond Scott.

"If you don't join with a friend or family member you will surely gain friends and family here! We are a very community-oriented facility that is all about the clients and members and the bettering of them which is the number one thing that sets us apart from most gyms."

Although the facility specializes in training for athletes of all sports and abilities, it also trains the general population of all fitness levels. Along with sports and fitness training, it also teaches classes in power yoga and a big-intensity session that it calls Prime Assault. Walk-ins are available for classes, and memberships may be maintained month-by-month, or in 6 or 12-month terms. Members that sign up with two or more friends can take advantage of a small group discount. "Our most popular package offered is the 6 month which gives our clients 72 one-hour sessions with one of our very knowledgeable life trainers," says Scott.

Some of the equipment a member may encounter at Prime includes giant weighted ropes, giant tires, free weights, and resistance bands. Sports-specific training is offered for beginner athletes just getting acclimated to a particular sport, college/high school athletes that want a shot at earning a sports-related scholarship, and elite athletes that want to beat the competition.

The gym also houses a massage therapy center and offers physical therapy and meal plan consultation, providing a full range of services for athletes to achieve their personal best.

For Scott, sharing fitness with others has always been his passion. "I started training full-time in December 2013 in a small facility of 800 square feet," he explains. "Initially it was a hobby but it quickly turned into a passion of serving my community and promoting faith, family, and fitness. Growing up playing football, athletics and fitness has always been apart of my life therefore that was my passion. Being able to get better year after year and bring joy to those who watched me play motivated me!"

Now, thanks to the opening of Prime Athletic Training and Fitness Institute, he's sharing that passion on a greater scale and helping people of all fitness levels in the Durham area lose weight, gain more energy, and stay in shape.
