O2 Fitness Offers Group Classes and Personalized Training to Create the Ultimate Fitness Experience

By S. Mathur

O2 Fitness Clubs recognizes that everybody has different fitness goals and needs, and offers equipment, personal training and group exercise classes suited to each individual. Serving the Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill, Wilmington, N.C. and Charleston, S.C. areas, they help members to design a whole body approach to wellness.

There are advantages to both group sessions and personal training, says Zachary Cain, Area Director. Being part of a group can be inspiring and motivating, he says: "The power of the "group" in group fitness makes for an amazing experience. There is no better motivation to lift a little bit more or push yourself a little further than an inspiring instructor and a room full of like minded participants!

Group Fitness creates a community within the club where structured, scientifically designed exercises led by a motivating staff member will help you achieve your fitness goals, whatever they may be."

Classes are both driven and fun. Personal training on the other hand, addresses individual needs and challenges, says Cain: "Personal training is just that, personal. Every workout is customized and tailored to each clients specific needs. You can expect to be constantly challenged, motivated, and educated." For varying levels of intensity and attention, there are also small group personalized trainings and boot camps.

For weight loss, Cain recommends cardio classes, which alternate intense activity with periods of rest, raising the heart rate and helping the body to become fitter. Strength classes are suited for those wanting to tone up, building lean muscle to speed up the metabolism. A good schedule for weight loss might include two strength classes and three cardio classes in a week. Two days of rest allow the body to recover.

To tone up, Cain suggests a weekly schedule of two cardio and three strength classes. The strength classes should be on on non-consecutive days he says, and "will help that lean muscle to show through faster but the day between the strength classes allows those muscle fibers to recover. Cardio classes between strength classes will help to build endurance which will, in turn, help you to lift heavier with more reps per exercise."

Each class is suitable for all levels of fitness, from beginners to seasoned athlete. Personal training begins with an initial meeting with the trainer, when a customized program is designed for you, based on your goals as well as your exercise and health history. Even for those who don't choose personal training, each level of membership includes a complimentary monthly health and wellness check-up.

The gym also has classes in Yoga, Pilates, Bootcamp, TRX and Cycling, as well as an onsite Kids Club. Beginners are offered a Free Trial to explore the gym and all facilities before signing up.
