Moving Your Belongings Safely and Efficiently: An Interview with Moving Simplified

Please describe a little bit about your company and the services you offer.

Our company is a locally owned and operated company based out of Cornelius, North Carolina. Our mission is to give all of our customer the most stress free and cost efficient moving experience. To do so we felt that things needed to be done differently. The biggest difference in Moving Simplified and our competitors is that we offer a full line of Packing, Moving, Cleaning, Junk Removal, and Storage services helping our customer with all aspects of their move.

How did you get into this line of work?

I started this company out of high school as a way to pay my way through college just loading and unloading rental trucks. It started to grow and I decided I would rather pursue a career in the moving industry.

I see that you single out pianos and pool tables in your website as two specialties- does it cost extra to move larger equipment such as those two examples?

We also started moving Pool Tables, Piano's, and Gun Safes to help with all aspects of our customers moves. When using our moving services there is no additional charge. If you are only moving any of the above there are flat rate charges.

What are come responsibilities that you expect from the family moving in/out during the process?

The family we are moving is the most important part of the move. We are in business to please our customers. We take responsibility of everything a customer owns which can be stressful. We have all full time employees who are trained to properly and safely move anything and everything.

Do you offer services for unpacking and setting up the new home after the big move?

As I have stated several times it is our mission to help with all aspects of a customers move. We will assist with everything needed. Full Packing and Unpacking services are offered. We also have taken it a step further and can help assist with hanging your pictures and setting up anything needed to make your new house a home. Our moving services also include complimentary disassemble and reassembly of all furniture so when we leave you are ready to go.

Do you believe that moving services are truly necessary for the average homeowner?

I do believe a certain extent of moving services are needed for at least 95% of individuals. Most everyone has something in their home which is heavy and hard to move. With doing it yourself you risk damaging the belongings or hurting yourself, either case you are in for more than the moving cost. With our services we base all moves off our customer specific needs and have no hourly minimums. This helps to move just the larger items for customers who would like to save money and do the majority of the smaller items themselves.

What sets your moving services apart from competition in your area?

I believe that our employees set us apart from other movers in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. We have all full time employees who work together as teams and complete all of our movers safely and efficiently. We are also the only company who offers a full line of moving services to help with all aspects of your move.

How early should a homeowner contacting a moving services company before the day of their move?

The more time a customer gives us the better but we know that the moving industry does not always allow this. We always do whatever possible to accommodate any moves.

What specific qualities should a customer look for in a qualified and reliable moving company?

There are very few things to look at when looking for a qualified mover. First I think dealing with a company with a local office and direct point of contact are the best. I think the other most important quality is to find a company which has a full time uniformed employees. Another important aspect is to ensure the company has all of the proper equipment such as company trucks, furniture pads, and all of the other tools and straps needed for a safe move.

What are some common mistakes that homeowners make when hiring certain moving companies?

I think the first mistake a customer makes is hiring the company based of the lowest rates. You always get what you pay for. A company is normally able to provide you with a low rate because they do not have insurance, company trucks, or professional movers. In the end a single mistake will cost you more.
