Charles Mack Citizen Center Brings That Special Hometown Feel and More to Each Celebration

By S. Mathur

The Charles Mack Citizen Center in downtown Mooresville, NC lives up to its name, as a popular venue for weddings and other celebrations in the community. With a great location, a welcoming layout, and dedicated staff, it has all the facilities any event planner could hope for. A regular weekly program of film shows also helps to keep the Main Street location full of visitors.

The atmosphere makes all the difference, says Stephanie Crisco, Venue Operations Manager. She feels that the setting is both familiar and special: "You will get that hometown feel but feel like you are in a special place! On a Saturday night the whole building is buzzing with energy as there are weddings, parties, and performances going on. Step out into one of our outdoor spaces and be transported to a whimsical garden with water fountains and twinkle lights."

The Center is named for longtime resident and merchant Charles Mack and was opened in 1995. At that time is was known as the Mooresville Citizen Center. The facility was expanded in 2001 with grant from the CJ Mack Foundation. Crisco explains that "The purpose for the building since the beginning was to provide a space for events and such that bring people into Downtown Mooresville. Many members of the Mack family are still in the local area and attend events at The Charles Mack Citizen Center regularly."

The Center is a popular wedding venue with good reason. It is affordable, offers beautiful outdoor courtyard settings for the ceremony and reception, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Crisco adds that "A bride and groom will find everything they are looking for at The Charles Mack Citizen Center. We have a beautiful facility that is warm and inviting and customizable to each individuals event. Our dedication to our clients and their guests is unparalleled!"

There are six distinctive ballrooms, with more than enough space for two hundred guests who love to dance. Two outdoor settings provide a scenic backdrop for wedding photographs. The venue provides tables and chairs and even audio-visual equipment. All parties receive the same attention and service, whatever the size and nature of the events. Staff are flexible enough to handle last-minute requests and problems.

To make event planning easier, the Center has a list of approved caterers and vendors like decorators, DJ, musicians and service staff. The Center also hosts theater performances, concerts and recitals in the auditorium, which has an 18' x 14.5' projection screen and theater-style seating. The auditorium is also a good setting for business events and functions. There is a regular roster of events with film screenings, musical concerts and special events like the MLK Breakfast, all of which are open to the public.
