5 Useful Interior Painting Tips: An Interview with Jesse Slate of Slate Painting LLC

By Jesse Slate

Please tell us a little bit about your company and the services you offer.

We are a professional painting company, we are fully insured, BBB accredited, we have excellent recent references, we fix drywall, wood rot, pressure wash, and paint interior and exterior residential and commercial work.

What's one of the most important things you can do to properly prep walls and trim before painting?

To properly prep a wall or trim it requires, sanding, patching, caulking or putting , and priming any patched areas or bare wood.

Is ceiling and wall repair necessary in most cases? What are the basic steps involved?

It is always important to prep your ceilings and walls so that the previous imperfections do not make your paint job look bad, same steps as in question # 2.

What are some of the current interior painting trends for houses in North Carolina?

We use a lot of neutral colors, with an eggshell finish on the walls, and a semi-gloss on the trim. I do a lot of work for decorators who do different things.

Do you have any advice for choosing the right color for a particular room?

For choosing colors, I would take pictures of your rug, furniture, drapes, or something that you like in the room and take those photos to your local Sherwin Williams, they will have a person there that will be able to help walk you through different colors, bring home swatch samples and look at them in the daylight and at night, they will have different looks with the light.

What's the best way for people to contact your company?

I can be reached through the Internet at or Google Greenville nc Painters. Or call 252-814-9747.
